I started personal training at Crystal Health & Fitness on July 1st, 2013. I knew I needed a Personal Trainer, but it seemed too expensive for me. After a thirty-minute assessment, James work it out in that I could afford it. I was155 pounds and my body fat was 22% and at age 25 that was high for me. My goal was to weigh 135 with body fat % of 17%. I completed personal training on December 6, 2013, my final weight was 135 pounds and 17% body fat, I was amazed that all my goals were exactly where I wanted them. James is a valuable resource of knowledge, not just on physical activity but also in nutrition. Crystal Health & Fitness cared about my success as much as I did, and it really showed! Thank You James
Sometimes personal training is not about losing weight or inches to fit in your little black dress or skinny Jeans. Like my client Jackie, who was in two major car accidents that injured both shoulders and then to add to it, fell down the stairs and reinjured the left shoulder. She then developed Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). This condition leads to severe nerve pain and frozen shoulder. In 2021 Jackie called me asking for my help because she had been doing physiotherapy for five years with little to no result. Her goal was to be able to wash her hair and have a shower on her own but most of all to be able to go back to work. After 14 months, Jackie is now able to raise her arm from the original 15 degrees relative to her side, to a maximum of 70 degrees before feeling pain. This allows her to have a regular shower and wash and comb her hair. For most people it’s routine but for Jackie it’s a big accomplishment. She was only able to lift two & a half pounds but now lifting 10 pounds, which enables her to do her laundry without calling for help. The best part is that she is now back to work (since January) earning a regular salary. Personal Training cannot cure TOS but it can make life a whole lot better, just ask Jackie!
I’ve been overweight all my life, I just grew to accept it and love me just the way I was. One day I realized I was not just overweight but obese because I was now 432 pounds. I decided to do something about it because I couldn’t continue like this. It was at this low point that my daughter told me about Crystal Health & Fitness. I was very skeptical because I couldn’t see how this James person could help me. When I first met James , he was very warm and friendly and kept telling me to take it one step at a time. I went ahead and signed up with him and it was the best decision I made. I told him I was only going to do three months two times a week. Well after seeing my results I knew I had to keep going. I didn’t think it was possible for me but now I’m so happy. I was able to lose 192 pounds and reduce my body fat percentage from 64% to 40%. I am Lynn Edwards, age 70, I have worked with James from 2017 to 2020. James has provided an individual program which targeted my specific needs, strengths, and weaknesses. I can do full push-ups of twenty reps, and with my improved flexibility and balance I can catch things before they hit the floor. Personal training with James has been an incredible journey. Coming to him with specific mindset and goal of losing weight and gaining muscles were two of the many things I have gained from training three times a week with James. Starting with a simple squat, to now an advanced version of squatting with bars and weights. It’s been seven months, and not only has my body changed but also my way of thinking when it comes to the importance of health and fitness. I’ve gone from 151 pounds to 132 and reduce body percentage from 34% to 27%. I use to wear size 12 but now I wear size 2.
